Channel 10 gets a gorgeous site refresh

The home for technology enthusiasts in the Microsoft stable (and my first home with the company), Channel 10, recently launched a beautiful site upgrade.

The revised site looks more polished and is easier to read than its previous incarnation. Duncan and the development team also included a shiny new media player with embed code for spreading your favourite videos far and wide.

In the last week, Laura has recommended a great video compression tool, Sarah found a very cool panoramic desktop viewer, and Max linked to a Media Center DVD library tutorial. Stop over and spend some time poking around 10, and don’t be afraid to feed them back ;)

Step seven of the blog redesign

Don’t concern yourself with how you could have missed the previous six steps, or how many more there will be before the redesign actually takes effect. Just know that I’ve got the new catch-phrase: “Over aggressive, under concerned.”

Big Flaming Weekend

I’ve gone back to Cali tonight, and the 75F breeze that hit me upon stepping outside was the best welcome I’ve ever got from my home state. I’ll be at BarCamp this weekend throwing out on10 shirts and Channel 9 guys, as well as BloggerCon at 08:00 this morning (why Dave why?!)

More importantly though this weekend is [Gay] Pride–something Eric almost forgot about. While it holds greater significance for San Francisco’s more obvious male population, Pride means one thing to those of us who like girls…KGAY!!!

This is the only time of year I actually seek out traditional radio broadcast. Listen and be entertained, so it is written…

LifeCams from Microsoft

Yesterday Microsoft announced a pair of videoconferencing cameras dubbed the LifeCam VX-3000 and VX-6000. They’re optimized for Windows Live Messenger and MSN Spaces for one-touch photo blogging.

Both cameras will be available in August for $50 and $100 respecitvely. The bigger/meaner of the two also supports 1.3 megapixel video, which I believe is a first in the personal vidcon world.

I’m totally psyched to get hands-on with these bad boys. Hopefully soon we’ll have cross-platform videoconferencing!

Scoble flees to the Valley

Robert Scoble is leaving Microsoft and will join Podtech.net. Not quite sure what to say here. I suppose it’s inevitable, as there’s no such thing as a lifelong career anymore.

It’s also sure to make life around my office a lot more volitile in the near future-I suppose being down in the valley this week will give me some shelter from the storm.
